Hey There!

My name is Ashlyn Boots

She/Her/Hers

Writer, Director & Actress

Over the last sixteen years, I've gained experience intersecting storytelling, performance, and representation, leading me to direct eighteen short films varying in both genre and budget.

I’ve built a foundation through various hands-on experiences and internships in development, production, sales, and acquisitions.

It is my intent to bring bright energy, insight, collaboration, and attention to every project and community I join.

“Ashlyn is not only an exceptional director, but a disciplined, resilient, and deeply committed storyteller whose work demonstrates both artistic sophistication and emotional truth. She has distinguished herself as one of the most fully realized student filmmakers I have encountered in my years of teaching. ”
— Prof. Karen Dee Carpenter
“Her creative vulnerability and expressiveness in a world that would rather steamroll marginalize voices, is a bout of courage present in very few. Ashlyn will be the first to set a high bar to motivate herself and others, creating a fruitful working environment that inspires creative liberty. ”
— Donald Petrie, DGA
“Ashlyn’s work consistently balanced originality with clarity of audience, tone, and structure. She does not create in a vacuum; she creates with awareness, intention, and a deep respect for storytelling as both craft and communication. What stood out to me most was her ability to develop a project that felt fully realized on both levels—commercially viable and artistically grounded.”

Dean’s Scholar

Upon graduation, I was awarded the Mike Curb College of the Arts, Media and Communication Dean's Scholar—an honor given to only 9 of 11,000 graduating seniors in each of our respective colleges.

For all the things I am today, and everything I will be tomorrow, I extend my deepest gratitude to the family of peers, professors, and mentors who paved such a remarkable educational experience.
